I've opened up this new Forum for the discussion of Lighthouse Postcards -- and other lighthouse paper and related collectibles. This is NOT a buy/sell/trade forum.

I've moved all the Postcard threads from the "Lighthouse Duty" forum.

Bob Scroope has graciously agreed to sign on as Cruise Director for this Forum. Thanks Bob.

Thanks for the Welcome, John. I hope to have some topics on antique and new lh postcards, lh cards, lh calendars and lh books as well as the popular postcard exchanges that have been going on. Share some experiences of where and how you got your collection of these keepsakes and research tools. We'll also be discussing some original lh keepers journals and logs, US Lighthouse Board and US LIghthouse Service Reports.

Welcome Bob! Don't forget, that as the newest cruise director, 20% of each paycheck goes to each of the last 2 cruise directors before you, and 50% to the webmaster. I'll send you my street address to be sure you get the check to the right place.

A cruise director's life ain't easy. Up at 5am. Answer a deluge of email and then meetings, meetings, meetings. The love of the wacko keeps ya goin'. And just when you think you can't take it anymore...you squeeze out one more day for the cause.

Did JC mention the probationary period? During your first 30 days as Cruise Director, you will be harassed, scrutinized, humiliated, etc. etc. etc. Sorta like a chief's initiation, or becoming a Shellback. Bob, it's time to visit the Royal Barber! Will explain later. heh, heh, heh.

Congratulations Bob and Thanks for taking on what I think will be a very interesting Forum. I look forward to the posts here and hopefully a few pictures of lighthouse postcards and related materials. When in antique shops I often browse the boxes and books of old postcards and will be sharing some of them with all of you.
