Maybe you'd like this 270 acre island in the Straits of Mackinac - apparently complete with Helena lighthouse - the one soon to be released by Harbour Lights.

Got a spare $3 million or so?

... I am now envisioning this island with two feet of snow and ice on and surrounding it.

If it sells for that price, E-bay takes home a quick $37,563.13 listing + selling fee. Not bad.

I wonder if PayPal would let that transaction pass right through without any fees?

Apparently there are no shipping charges, I wonder how long it would take for them to ship the 270 acre Island complete with Lighthouse, to a reservoir near my house?

Real concern here - does this proposed sale include the light station? With all the money and effort GLLKA is putting into St. Helena Light Station, I would hope they have some guarantee of possession or eventual ownership. Has this station already been transferred by the USCG or do they still own the station?

Dave: If this is an operational light I would doubt that the light station is included in the sale. From my limited experience most of them include some amount of land, say an acre. This is apparently owned by GLLKA with access to the light by the Coast Guard. When Galoo Island was sold a while back the light station was not included. It was, however sold to another individual last summer although the Coast Guard retain access to the light as it is still active.

I would tend to agree with you that this is the norm. However, the first line in this guys listing insinuates otherwise: "Uninhabited island in it's entirety located in the Straits of Mackinac".

Does he mean
• island is entirely uninhabited?
• island is entirely in the Straits of Mackinac?(duhhhh)
• does he mean you get the island in its entirety?

I certainly hope this guy only owns most of the island! Not a very well written listing if you are trying to peddle an island for $3 mil. (imho)

Got a clarification from the seller.

The lighthouse is owned by the Federal government and is not included in the sale. So you're buying land at about $12,145 an acre.
