I will be at the Southern Regional and would like to purchase the Grand Haven print. Could you reserve a #66 for me. That is my Harbour Light auto shipment Number.

Daniel - I can't promise that Paul will be able to hold #66 for you. My best advise is to catch Paul early.

They are ON THE WAY...

Orders for the unframed prints received prior to yesterday were shipped today by Priority Mail. These envelopes were all marked "PHOTOGRAPH - DO NOT BEND OR FOLD".

Framed prints and unframed print orders received yesterday and today will go out tomorrow.

What a keeper this photo is!

Glad they're there John and that the first batch has been sent out. From the time John approached me with the concept of this fund-raiser to the point that I finished working on the file that went to Kal Color to be printed on archival professional paper, the image was cropped a little from the framed version that John has displayed on this thread. I was working to maintain all of the detail of the waves, the color, and to provide the biggest lighthouse image that I could. So that everyone who now has a priority mail envelope headed their way, hopefully more quickly than the Express Mail shipment of the prints to John got to him, can see what their signed/numbered print will look like, here's the final edited version of your print. I hope everyone who is getting one will be pleased when they see the real thing. I think the version as it was printed is much more dramatic and shows off the crepuscular rays or God beams as you may prefer to call them much better than in the uncropped version John used for an initial example.

Good to know too that John rates this one a "keeper!"

Thanks to everyone for your part in helping to support the operation of the Collector's Forums. I've enjoyed my part to be sure.

Shortly, I will be posting a thread here on the forums with a link to a page on my website. I'm planning a Christmas print sale special. I'll be offering 11 different 6x9 prints, single matted in either black or white as you prefer, in a 9x12 mat that will go into a standard frame. Price for the prints will be $20 each + $4 each S&H. Normally these single matted prints would sell at $30 each so that's a third off for the holidays. I've chosen what I feel are superb images that would make great Christmas gifts for any lighthouse lover. I hope that everyone will take a look and that some of you may be interested in getting prints for yourself or friends.

Thanks again,
Gary

I don't know about you, John, but I'm looking forward to seeing who posts the first announcement to this thread to let us all know that they've gotten their print.

The photo at the top of this thread in John's post and the one posted by Gary below don't appear to be the same photo regardless of lighting......or am I going blind???? (Eyesight is the 2nd thing to go at my age, LOL)

I think you're right, George. When Gary was posting his images for the first time, I only saw the one I grabbed and printed here. A few days later he posted the second one above. I knew that was the one. But we had problems getting a copy of the image I could print for the purpose of shooting the framed photo.

Anybody wants their money back after getting their print, just let me know.

John,
Is it possible that we can have the opportunity to have a print of the later one sent to us since I feel it is a much better print?

Rick,
If by the later one, you mean the most recent print John has posted, the answer to that is yes. I shipped John 100 copies of that print and that is what's going out. I completely agree, that is a MUCH stronger image, which is why I produced it. I guess I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the fact that John had set up the advertising based on an earlier print... I got too wrapped up in producing the thing and getting a quality image ready to go out. Then the other night it was oh $#XX! My sincere apologies to everyone over the confusion and change -- this was certainly NOT intended to be a bait and switch I can assure you!

Thanks John & Gary for the info, now maybe this old man's eyes aren't as bad as I thought. By the way, both prints are beautiful, but the second one(which is the 100 produced) is more beautiful. THanks to both of you for this project and the website!!!!

Gary,

You might want to check the last line in your last post. I don't think it reads as you intended. smile

You're right, Dennis... that will teach me not to logon at 5:30 AM and try to write anything intelligible! It's been fixed.

The USPS Mule Train arrived in beautiful downtown Ocala Fl. today with a priority mail envelope today and in it was just a fantastic print of a lighthouse. You know Gary, you might just want to take up photography. All kidding aside, I want to take this opportunity to thank both you and John for a fantastic print and for giving us a chance to share in the cost of the forums. To get the print and the forums for less then $30.00 is a bargain.

Rich cool

Thank you both John & Gary for the wonderful opportunity to own this beautiful print. Now all I have to do is actually visit the lighthouse(s) to make it all complete! laugh

Hey BonnieJean were we a little excited? I must admit, your exuberant start to the post above brought a big smile to my face! I'm glad you and all that have said something about their print when they've gotten it are happy with it. I also have to agree with you... the real thing is a lot better than the jpg version posted on the thread IMHO too!

I do love the picture - the colors are so vivid that if you stare long enough you could almost believe that you are there in person. I like the idea that I was able to help the forums with my small donation, the picture is just a wonderful prize for doing so. Thank you Gary for sharing your wonderful picture with us for such a great cause. I know we have all said it in our own little way, but this forum is one of the best tools on the internet to exchange information and our love for lighthouses. I'm so glad that I've joined this group - I'm sure we will all do good things with the knowledge we gather here. Thank you also John for keeping this website going for us. How could we live without the Saints watching over us? wink

My #2 arrived yesterday. Now to get a frame and find a suitable spot to display it.
If this should become an annual event, can I request the same number for next year?

For frames, check places like "Linens n Things", or "Aaron Brothers"

Getting the same number each year sounds like a good idea to me. Bring it up again next Fall.

I got a nice frame for mine today for $7.00 at A. C. Moore. They honor competitors coupons and I happened to have a 50% off coupon. Since I got such a great deal on the frame I bought a new love seat for my basement room. Don't ask. It's a woman's way of reasoning. smile

Gee I forgot to add this. While I was in the store today looking at the frames a young woman made some sort of announcement. At the tail end of it she said, "Thank you for shopping at Walmart"! eek

I ordered my photo today.

As for frames... there are no such stores as any of these around Madison, Wisconsin: "Linens n Things", or "Aaron Brothers" or "A. C. Moore"

I have seen panoramic frames around. They aren't as hard to find as some frame sizes, except now that I will be out looking for one, I probably won't find one that I like.

Looking forward to receiving the photo!

Suzanne

Mailed my order on Friday. Hope there are still some left by the time the check gets there.

Gary it's a great picture and I can't wait to get mine and add it to the wall of the museum in the family room.

Several new orders to post here. I'll try to do it later tonight or early tomorrow.

For those who ordered framed prints, more frames are coming in. I HOPE tomorrow, but can't be sure until I call.
