Today we received some more contributions from the Post Card exchanges and they sent me thinking....
One of the letters came with an lovely sender's address sticker and so now I know the name and the address of the kind person who sent it...

But - maybe because I have not been in the CF for too long - I have no idea, if this person is one of the "regulars" I read contributions from.

Trouble is ... I have no idea how to link this person's name to a CF display name.
Is there a list somewhere?
Or should we put our names with the signatures on message?
Or is there a good reason not to publically link the two?
As you can see, I have made our names clear in my signature, but am I wrong?
Would be interested to hear other people's opinion!!

If you email me Margret, I can probably tell you who they are.

I guess the only way you can find out a CF Users real name is by emailing them. Our names are not included in our CF profile. Some people use part of their real names as their CF user name, others don't. In time you will figure out who is who by continued interaction at the CF.

Thanks Bob (rscroope), I worked it out ... and Bob M, I agree that some are easier than others. But I just wondered if there was a reason why ...
I noticed that a few people at least sign postings with their first names. That makes life easier for us "newcomers" ... I can see why some people would not like to "give too much away" online. I am cautious that way. But my first name is no big secret ... I think... :p

Margret, here are two old threads from the forums which will identify several current and lots of past visitors around here:

These are actually not the thread that I was searching for, but they may help.

Found one more recent to add:

I am enjoying these old threads. I'm trying to learn who is who, too. It's interesting to hear a little about everyone's family, dogs, other interests and so on. I'd always wondered how Digger came to be a sexton in a cemetery. Now I find that, besides being such a talented artist, he is a pilot, too. Very cool!
