I generally have rotten luck in drawings. My last good drawing was a rather high lottery number for my birth date in the draft many years ago. My brother wrote me about this - I was in boot camp. Anyway, yesterday's mail brought a rather nice announcement from Kim Andrews at H-L; I had won an 'Artist Proof' from their 'Register and Win' contest. What did I win? Is it a drawing type proof? A sculpture? A photo? Any ideas? Thanks!

Making room for something...

John

Congratulations, you lucky dog! Adding an AP from Harbour Lights to your collection is indeed a priviledge not enjoyed by many.

Your new sculpture will definitely be a keeper.

John,

They didn't explainit very well in the letter (I won one also) for those who don't already know what one is.

An Artist Proof is the piece that is used to display the piece at shows prior to production, etc. It may be slightly different than the actual product. The paint may be a little different, a piece that is on the final product may not be there ( or vice-versa).

Someone mentione dthat one of the Artist's Proof they had the tree was different than the final product. This happens if there are production or breakage problems, etc.

You can sometimes find these AP's for sale at a Dealer. They are given to them by a Rep after they are done with them.

They do not make that many AP's for a piece so it is fairly rare.

Dennis

Congrats to John, Frank and Dennis. Only about 14 APs are made for each piece. Some are used by HL when they go to trade shows, others are given to the area Reps to use in their showrooms. (Only reps with showrooms get APs.)

It will be the 'crown jewel' of your collection! And you'll have a fun story to tell your admiring friends on how it arrived in your collection!
