A picture is worth a thousand words, more or less? After you two left, Lori and Derith, I kept shooting for quite a while... Well past 10 PM. Here are a couple of the images I captured there at Grand Haven that night...

Looking out toward the fog signal building's light reflecting on the placid waters of Lake Michigan...



Then the inner light...

For the techno types, the outer light exposure was 4 minutes at f/11 using a 300 mm f/4 Nikkor AF-S lens. The inner light shot was a short 15 sec at f/8 using the same lens. Both shots were taken on Fuji Velvia. The greenish-blue of the pier lights is from them being mercury vapor, which records greenish-blue on Velvia.

Very nice shots Gary. Looks like you were down the beach a ways. I haven't shot from that angle, I have always done the "tourist" viewpoint next to the pier.

Gary, that angle kind of makes me crave Bil Mar's. Is it still there?
