Got it on Friday - rained all weekend so this is my Monday lunch hour photo at Fire Island. My initial comment is how 'vibrant red' these roofs came out and the detail of the stonework - compared to previous pictures with different cameras. These photos have not been enhanced or touched up except for reducing the size for the website.

Very nice picture, Bert.
But it looks like only one of three came through. Don't feel bad. If I were to have tried, my score would have been zero out of three.

Very nice picture. My husband has been thinking about retiring his very old Canon F-1 and the Canon 20D was on the list. Keep us up to date on how it's working! Cathy

Bob,
That is a nice photo. What lens are you using? I upgraded to the 20D five months ago, and my Digital Rebel is now collecting dust. I didn't have a wide angle lens for this camera. I just ordered a Canon 17-40mm f/4L USM Lens yesterday.

I used the 17-85 f/4 USM IS for these Tammy. I also got a 70-200 USM IS for the long distance shots. Bob

Great shots, Bob! The 20D is next on my list, but it won't be until next year sometime. I've got the 10D to hold me over for now. Is your 70-200 the 2.8 IS lens? If so, that sucker is HUGE...
Tammy, you finally bit the bullet, eh? You won't be disappointed with the 17-40/4. Same lens I got with my 10D last fall and I LOVE it. I would love to get th 16-35/2.8 but it was more than twice the price at $1300 and couldn't justify it for one extra f-stop.

Yes Jen, the 70-200 f/2.8 is huge but not as heavy as I expected. When I first saw it I gulped. You can take the tripod grip off which saves a little weight. The lens hood really makes it look long but I was surprised by it's balance. I'll know for sure how it handles after a couple of ferry trips this weekend.

Nice camera and pictures Bob. I had the same camera and lens ordered last Dec. for me for Christmas. After I placed the order, I was sent a notice that the camera was placed on backorder for 8-12 weeks. I didn't want to wait that long so I cancelled the order. After searching camera sites for another week, I got to thinking about my camera usage. I finally decided that 95% of my travel was on a plane and I didn't want to carry around so much equipment. Anyway...to make a long story short, I ended up buying the new Nikon Coolpix 8800. I hope you enjoy your new camera.

Hey Lorie, I went through same decision process - back and forth. Big/small, convenient, do I need it?, Nikon/Canon, what's coming out next week? Price/ tax/ dealer - oh, Boy! I always research these things to death and don't look back. My decision was to get more professional lenses to try to 'capture what my eye is seeing'. I was very frustrated by bringing back photos that could not capture what I thought I saw. I finally pulled the trigger after months and months of back and forth. December, I was getting a mini Sony, February a Nikon 100 which became a 70 which became a Canon20d. But the final decision came from selecting the lenses I wanted and working back! I also see on some of the new software I can capture those panoramic photos from Utah and Hawaii and knit them together. I even found a bag on ebay that fits all my stuff that is fairly light and compact.(considering) Time will tell? Bob

I agree with Grover, where's the deer? Sue and I both know you have one that wants to ride in your car with you, Bob...

Bob,
Please keep the photos coming. And I'm also interested in your reaction to your Canon 20D.

Funny you guys should mention the deer! When I opened the door of my car I was expecting to see one, as usual. As Paul mentioned I had one with a full rack trying to get in my driver's door while I was still in my seat. , and I had another in January standing right next to my car when I pulled up. Monday, I didn't see any at all, anywhere. There were quite a few bus loads of school children around so maybe they were being shy even at lunchtime. lol  Bob
